GSS Solidarity Statement
Dear Students:
We have been following the recent events in Canada and the US. As a country, we value multiculturalism. That, unfortunately, does not mean that there is not racism in Canada and in our community. We continue to advocate for equality for all: black women, men, and children, those who are racially marginalized, and any form of discrimination. We support those participating in peaceful protests across Canada and the US.
We are outraged by the injustices that have occurred and the black lives that have been taken and we stand in solidarity with our black citizens and all those who are fighting for equality. This fight will not end until we see a stop to racial violence and until we see the lives of all people viewed as they are, important and meaningful, by all members of our society.
Thank you,
Lynette Kivisto, GSS President
