One student will be awarded the Mahsa Amini Memorial Scholarship annually, valued at $1000, with the aim of supporting female graduate students of Iranian descent at the University of Windsor.
This initiative, backed by a $10,000 contribution from the Graduate Student Society and in collaboration with the University of Windsor, highlights the legacy of Mahsa Amini, the profound impact her passing had worldwide, and the social activism that followed. This is the first time the scholarship has been awarded.
“We wanted to give students the opportunity to pursue their academic goals and keep the movement started by Mahsa Amini alive well into the future. On behalf of all of us at the GSS, we’re incredible proud to finally announce the opening of this scholarship” said Graduate Student Society President, Amangel Bhullar.
In order to qualify, students must be a Masters level or PhD level. A Minimum cumulative average of 80% is required. The scholarship is open to all students, across all Faculties, with a preference to support International Students. Preference to support a student who is not receiving funding from a national tri-agency or provincial scholarship.
